Hey Ladies.
When I first heard about the benefits of honey I was eager and excited to try it for myself. So I had pre-poo with my usual but this time added honey. Don't get me wrong I did notice my hair was extremely soft (which was the main purpose I wanted to try it), but I noticed a significant amount of shedding and breakage. Although we all know shedding is natural but this was A LOT more than normal. And I know my hair very well....and never had this problem until I tried using honey. Just so it clear, I'm not still experiencing shedding now, only at the time of that wash. This could possibly be because I've been stretching and honey is best used after you have relaxed. I've thought about trying it again after I relax but I personally don't think it's worth the risk. I've known many ladies who have tried honey and have had positive as well as negative results. I'm not discouraging any one from trying it, just sharing my experience. Going through this has taught me just because something has worked for everybody else, doesn't mean it will work for you. I've learned to be okay with not going along with the crowd and use what they use. We all are different.
My "Emergency Hair Style"
Stretching your relaxers is not a very easy process, especially when you're trying to stay away from heat. So I'm 22 weeks post, and dealing with some SERIOUS new growth. So I was at a point when I just couldn't do anything to my hair. Whenever I get to this point, I use my "emergency style". What I like about this hairstyle is it's quick and easy.
Step 1: I lightly sprayed my hair with water
Step 2: I combed my hair from ends to roots
Step 3: Applied "Cantu Shea Butter Leave in Conditioner and sealed with olive oil. Any Leave in Conditioner and oil will work as well.
Step 4: Parted my hair into four sections and made some bantu knots (two on each side). I didn't wrap my ends completely around the knot because i wanted to avoid any frizzy ends. So I just used my metal clips instead. Also, the metal clips tend to hold better than bobby pins but they still work.
Step 5: Use a satin scarf to protect your hair during the night.
Step 6: Unravel bantu knots. Separate, and add a head band. WAH-LAH!!!!
It's very rare that I ever buy shoes online....but I've recently had a change of heart. If you hadn't heard already, one of the most greatest places to buy shoes is cutesygirl.com. Would I love about them is that the have so much VARIETY, plus great prices. I would honestly have to say they take the award for having the best Boots. Since when do you find a great pair of boots for under $20?!?! Guess what? The prices get lower than that too. Don't worry...these are good quality shoes! You can even view hauls on youtube of the actual shoes people have purchased from cutesygirl. Don't believe me? Check them out for yourself.
And the Hair Journey has BEGUN!!!!
I'm excited to say I'm officially starting my hair Journey and I want to share it with you! Here's a picture of my current length which is BSL (Bra strap length). As you can see my sides are shorter than the middle/crown of my head. I hope to even everything out once I have reached my goal of MBL (mid back length). I'm hoping that better care of my hair and more research I can reach my goal by March 2011, a year from now. I'll update. -Tiff
